My name is Laura Preston and I have fought the battle with obesity my whole life. I am a self proclaimed sugar addict. I truly believe in Food Addiction. My highest weight was 365 lbs, and I underwent gastric bypass surgery on March 2, 2005 in White Plains, New York with Dr. Phillip Weber.
My life has since changed dramatically.
I believes that the key to long-term WLS success is found by focusing on nutrition, fitness, image and personal empowerment. My personal Bariatric experience has left me with an extensive knowledge on the nutritional and fitness needs of the Bariatric patient. I have worked with Life Time Fitness, Beachbody, Richard Simmons and appeared in a Turbo Jam infomercial for Chalene Johnson. This has inspired me to seek out my certifications in Personal Training and Group Exercise.
I have studied fashion merchandising and have worked with industry leaders such as Marshall Fields, Macy’s, Saks 5th Avenue,Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.
I have worked within the beauty industry as a Vice President of Sales with companies such as Paula Dorf and DDF – Doctor’s Dermatological Formula. I am currently working as a business manager for Chanel.
My personal goal is to be the person I wish I could have met when I was first starting out on my Bariatric journey. My approach to life is to live it one day at a time and to face all the Daily Detours head-on. If we get lost or off path, we only have to ask for direction.
I currently live in Los Angeles, CA with my pug Maxwell.
