FIA is one of the only airports in the world where you pay $25 on arrival and departure. It pains me that even the $25 payments haven’t been managed properly.
And they are informing the public due to their poor management of this. They are putting a temporary pause. In fact, they would come back later with a more exorbitant fee.
i wish theyy scrap it completely lol. you pay too much before even settling into the country, VISA/AirportFees(x2) then the seaboat
They just missed getting money when the COVID fees went away. That's when 'security fees' came into effect.
This $25 fees is an absolute bollocks. The airport is quite shite and I don't really know what security are they trying to impose. For an international airport with just maximum 3 or 4 gates traveller have to pay $50 inbound and outbound is just ridiculous. I suspect that even the company handling the Securipass is even a cronies to the government.
People at the gate just before the immigration counter even ask for money if you look weak/vulnerable as the case of my former colleague working there who has quiet a short stature and is an Asian.
So good riddance this ridiculous fees is being suspended. It's questionable in the first place.
An online traveller claimed to have visited more than 100 countries and said Sierra Leone was among the few places where they recalled paying such a fee separately at departure or arrival, instead of through the ticket.
This is interesting because the way the people act at the airport, I would have thought they were all getting a slice of the money.
So does that mean from July 6 passengers leaving Sierra Leone through Freetown International Airport will not have to pay the $25 airport tax (until further notice)?
How i wish this was automatically added when I buy my ticket instead of standing in line paying
It is, they just pocket the government just pockets the $25 fee. There was a program today about why there was ever a fee when all applicable fees are added to your ticket price.
